The Challenge
The existing headless WordPress setup had become increasingly difficult to manage, with ongoing conflicts leading to bugs and instability. This created a heavy reliance on developer support for even simple updates, slowing down the editorial team and making it harder to manage content efficiently.
The Solution
We rebuilt the platform using a streamlined WordPress approach, prioritising performance, stability, and ease of use. By simplifying the architecture, we reduced technical overhead while giving the editorial team greater control, supported by a strong foundation for SEO and long-term growth.
A modular content system was introduced to give the editorial team full flexibility when creating and managing content, without compromising structure or performance.
Alongside this, we implemented a performance-first build approach, ensuring fast load times across a content-rich platform, supported by a strong technical SEO foundation.
The platform is hosted on WordPress VIP, providing enterprise-level infrastructure, scalability, and reliability to support ongoing growth.
The Big Issue team have had a really positive experience working with Yellow Peach, who manage our website. From the outset they’ve been easy to deal with – friendly, approachable, and always happy to talk things through, making product management straightforward for a non-technical person. One of the things I value most is their practical approach. They don’t overcomplicate things or push unnecessary development, focusing instead on simple, effective solutions that add value.
